Malaysia Mini-Workshop: Stopping and Positivity Works!

By Kins Aparece

Melanie and Kins conducted a three-hour workshop on Creating Cultures of Peace on July 17, 2019 at the North South Initiatives (NSI) Conference Room, in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Seven female university students who interned at NSI joined the workshop. They are from Thailand and Djibouti and stayed in Malaysia for a couple of weeks to be immersed in development work, and the reality of migration at the ASEAN region.

For these girls, it was a very good chance for them to stop and appreciate the beauty of staying relaxed. Through the affirmation exercises, they were reminded of the importance of noticing the positive in others and of the self. “When we stay relaxed, we get to do many things!” were some of their realizations. They also agreed that in order to get big tasks done, they need to establish a friendly relationship with one another.
