Power of Goodness

Introducing Peace through Power of Goodness Peace Library Program

By Bungsu Ratih

On Sunday, March 8, 2020 we held a Power of Goodness activity in the “Damai” library (Pati, Central Java, Indonesia) with the theme Friendship. The story we used this time was “Mercy, A Poet’s Memory.” The activity lasted for 1.5 hours and was attended by 13 children. The Power of Goodness activity is now one of the routine activities in the library besides storytelling, reading books, and other peace activities. The children are excited to learn peace through stories, activities and games.

We use the Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) agenda format in every activity we do in the library. The children in the library are familiar with the format, so now children can lead some of the activities, such as welcome, opening, reflection and closing.
