Asia West Pacific supports peace workers in areas of conflict and suffering, seeking activities to restore and nurture peace and sharing our stories of nonviolence, healing and reconciliation. We get to know ourselves by entering other worlds—worlds very different from our own—discovering our common humanity and celebrating our rich cultural diversity.

Aotearoa & New Zealand

Friends from Aotearoa/NZ reach out to Indonesia, the Philippines and the Samoan Islands responding to requests for help with how to practice peace and nonviolence. In 2014, Esther Cowley-Malcolm went to Peace Place in Pati, Indonesia and to Bohol, Philippines to support AVP. In 2017, Liz Remmerswaal and Nadine Hoover met at Paul Chappel’s training on working to make war illegal, and in 2018, Rosie Remmerswaal joined the International Peace Training at Peace Place, Pati, Indonesia. Along with PLA Working Group member, Saskia Schuitemaker, Friends gathered in Aotearoa/NZ in 2018 to share mutual support for peace work at home and in the Pacific Islands.
